Who uses Dinnr recipe kits?

Who uses Dinnr recipe kits?

Cooking a quality meal at home from scratch takes too much time and effort in planning and executing. The convenience of eating out or using take-away options is appealing when most of us work an average of 48 hours per week, but it's expensive and often unhealthy. At the same time, there's little product choice in local grocery stores which means that many of us re-produce the same unimaginative go-to dishes from week to week.

Dinnr is an alternative, making it simple to select a delicious-looking meal online and have the measured ingredients and recipe delivered so you can whip up an amazing meal at home. By using Dinnr, you don't have to spend mental energy and time figuring out what recipes to cook, you don't have to spend time searching through supermarkets looking for the right ingredients and there are no leftovers. At the same time, our easy-to-use instructions make it a breeze to learn how to make amazing dishes - quickly.
Dinnr delivers recipe ingredient kits without requiring a subscription or any other commitment. We've recently launched a new website and are constantly refining our recipes and processes. We offer an ultra-flexible service with 18 delivery slots per week (3 per day, 6 days a week) which can be delivered to you at home or work and every week we provide a new set of recipes. Each day, 6 dishes (that change on a weekly basis and constitute a common theme, e.g. a certain local cuisine, cook like a famous chef, etc.) are available for same-day delivery and our 'Dinnr Favourites' recipes are available on a next-day basis in London (add 1 day for deliveries outside London).
So go on, give it a try.
Happy Cooking,

10 Minute Quickies in the Kitchen

In the run-up to Christmas, time is starting to become more and more precious. That's why this week we're doing all the hard work for you to reduce any unnecessary stress. '10 minute Quickies in the Kitchen' is about minimising the time spent prepping food for dinner, so you can focus on ticking off your rather large to-do list instead.

As a treat, and a new feature at Dinnr, we've reduced the work time of our dishes down to just 10 minutes, doing all of the dicing, slicing, crushing, grating and chopping that we can for you. So go on, prepare a quickie with 10 minutes working time, and sigh with relief.

Happy Cooking,

Cook Heston Blumenthal Style

Heston Blumenthal is celebrated the world over as one of the most innovative chefs – his Fat Duck restaurant in the Hobbit Shire-named English village of Bree is constantly ranked among the world’s best and is booked out months in advance. HB is particularly focused on the full sensory experience – he wafts smells in the restaurant, plays matching audio soundtracks and dresses up dishes to look like a beach.

Now, we can’t claim to come even close to that if we place the constraints of weekday cooking. The average Heston dish takes hours and days in advance to prepare. But, with the help of his book “Heston Blumenthal at home”, we have managed to pick out a few delicious recipes, simplify them here and there, and serve you up a range of tasty options that give you an idea of how intricate, flavourful and inventive the Blumenthal cuisine is.

For a real culinary challenge, pick the sushi dishes. For rich and filling, pick the lamb. And for quick, easy and healthy, go for the fish.

Above all, enjoy the ride!

(There is no association between Heston Blumenthal and Dinnr. We're just fans)

Cook like a Cambodian!

This week Dinnr travels to South East Asia to give you a taste of the Khmer, an unassuming culinary giant. While strolling through its dramatic landscape, you uncover a treasure trove of wondrous palatable delights. Perfectly placed between Thailand and Vietnam, the Khmer cuisine is simply unforgettable. Creative dishes with a delicious mix of strong flavours - we love them so much we’re putting Cambodia centre stage for a whole week. 6 brand new recipes to chose from.

The dishes are quite easy to cook and we have sourced a vastly superior lemongrass from a specialist shop in South West London, not the wooden stuff from supermarkets! Get your chopsticks at the ready and give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Happy Cooking,

Your Dinnr Team

Nothing influences your health more than food

This question may be the most important question in nutrition. The reason is pure and simple; there is no greater influence on your health than the food you eat. Food is the most powerful drug on Earth. You eat it several times a day, every day of your life. The body uses the compounds in food as the fuel for life.

The influence of nutrients and foods on each Metabolic Type is what makes nutrition so confusing. Without Metabolic Typing it’s a matter of a roll of the dice. This is the reason that “one man’s food is another man’s poison” because what can heal one person can worsen the same condition in another person.
A balanced plate: is half full of vegetables, one quarter of starch and one quarter of lean protein. Add a side of low fat dairy and a small portion of fruit to end the meal.

Protein: Some people are fast oxidisers and tend to burn carbs too quickly. A high carb diet only worsens the problem but increased amounts of healthy fats and proteins can help balance the chemistry and energy
production.
• Carb: Slow oxidisers are overly reliant on fat metabolism and do better on a higher carb intake with less proteins and healthy fats in their diet.
• Mixed: You can be a combination of both and be able to eat the same foods as the Protein and Carb Types. The best of both worlds. Both kinds of foods and the proportions of the proteins, fats and carbs are very different for each Metabolic Type. They require different ‘fuels’ and different ‘fuel mixes’ in order to convert their nutrients into energy. This allows you to maximise your energy, develop peak performance, control your appetite and be as trim as you can be.

Dinnr is raising a second round on Seedrs!

Be part of Dinnr’s successful future

  • Dinnr is raising £75,000 on crowd-funding platform Seedrs
  • You can invest as little as £10 and as much as £51,000
  • Dinnr is SEIS eligible - which allows you to use 50% of the invested sum as tax benefit

Hello there, friends of Dinnr!
We are raising another small round on Seedrs, a website which allows anyone to make investments into startups with sums starting at £10.

I would like to invite you to become part of Dinnr's journey and help us make our company a phenomenal success.

You can find a lot of background info on our trajectory so far and what we plan to do with this investment round on our Seedrs profile.

With the last investment, we massively improved our product offering, the result of which you can see on our shiny new website.

What is Seedrs?

Seedrs is an FSA-authorised crowd-funding platform (you can find their full scope of permissions on the FSA register.)

Crowd-funding means that anyone can invest in startups. In Seedrs' case, this starts with amounts as low as £10. Seedrs takes care of all the paperwork and acts as your nominee towards the invested startup.

As opposed to some other crowd-funding platforms, an investment through Seedrs gives you equity in Dinnr - you will become a shareholder and thus participate in our success.

How does this work?

  1. You sign up as an investor on Seedrs. This is a 3-5 minute process. Seedrs needs to take you through a few questions for legal reasons and verify that you understand the inherent risk that investing in startups represents. There is no commitment from you at this point.
  2. You review the Dinnr profile on Seedrs and learn about what we've accomplished so far and what we plan to use the raised money for. Most likely, you will have further questions. In that case, please ask them in the Seedrs Dinnr profile Q&A section or contact us at info@dinnr.co.uk or call the Dinnr phone 020 7193 4528.
  3. If you decide to invest, you transfer a sum of your liking to Seedrs.
  4. Only if the full investment target of £60,000 is reached, Seedrs releases the funds to Dinnr (after 2-3 weeks of paperwork). If the target is not reached, you receive your money back.
  5. Seedrs holds the shares as a nominee and takes care of all the paperwork surrounding the investment.
  6. You can be an active investor and take interest in what we do or just lean back and let your investment grow.

How does SEIS work?

SEIS is a pretty incredible tax incentive scheme for UK tax payers to foster investment in early-stage startups. You can read more about it on the HMRC website.

Here are the key benefits if you invest £1,000 into an SEIS qualified startup such as Dinnr Ltd.

  • 50% of the investment (£500) can be deducted from your individual income tax return;
  • Capital gains realised during the year can be re-invested into eligible startups without paying Capital Gains Tax;
  • If you sell the SEIS shares at a profit, you won’t pay any Capital Gains Tax; and
  • If you sell the SEIS shares at a loss, you may be eligible for loss relief of up to an additional 22.5% (£225)

This actually means that the worst-case scenario is a loss of £275 if you invest £1,000*.
And the best-case scenario is a multiplication of your investment.

You can find more info about what Dinnr has achieved so far and where the journey is going on our Seedrs profile. Any further questions we can answer on info@dinnr.co.uk.
Thank you for considering an investment in Dinnr - I look forward to hearing from you.
And if you feel like it, invest in us - and become part of the journey!

Michal Bohanes
Dinnr Co-Founder and CEO

PS. One word of caution: Investing in startups is inherently risky and it is possible that the value of your investment will diminish. Seedrs explains these risks here.
* various conditions apply. Please read up about SEIS here

Dinnr does Ottolenghi!

Dinnr now offers a new set of recipes every week based on a theme. This week: Cook Ottolenghi style!

Yotam Ottolenghi has inspired us here at Dinnr for some time with his astonishing and distinctive use of Middle Eastern flavours, taking in Syrian, Turkish, Lebanese and many other cuisines and combining them with the flavours of his own native Israel and Italian heritage.

He has changed the way we think about food and flavour combinations, as well as introducing us to the delights of sumac, marinated feta and harissa tahini! Fusion food is talked about a lot these days but he is the original master, using all his varied culinary influences and his own insight to create true fusion food where the end dish is something very different and very special. As he puts it much better than we could “Food is a basic, hedonistic pleasure, a sensual instinct we all share and revel in.” We couldn’t agree more.

A longstanding advocate of vegetarianism, Yotam Ottolenghi has always championed vegetables and non meat dishes as beautiful meals in their own right that don’t need meat to complete them. We’ve tried to capture a bit of that in our pearl barley risotto where we let tomato, lemon and caraway marinated feta do the talking. Honestly, that dish is a real winner despite its rather humble looks.

Disclaimer: we do not have any partnership with Yotam Ottolenghi and he has not had any involvement in producing our recipes. As massive fans we have simply tried to follow his unique approach and our six recipes for this week are a homage to his style of cooking. We have used ingredients and ideas from the Middle East and Israel and given them our own spin. We hope he would approve and we hope you like them!

Dinnr Launches Home-Surgery Kits!

After successfully teaching people how to cook at home instead of going to restaurants, Dinnr is proud to announce the launch of its new product line "Operatr" - self-surgery kits at home.

"We found that people really do enjoy insourcing many of the tasks they used to have done by professionals", says Michal Bohanes, Dinnr CEO. "There clearly is the need among our customers to show to so-called experts that they don't need their over-priced services."

Emulating the model of recipes and cooking, Dinnr starts with 3 basic surgeries:
1) Separation of joint toes (aka "Duck's foot" syndrome)
2) Lasik Eye Surgery
3) Penis enlargement

Clear and detailed instructions guide customers through the home-surgery

Along with a very clear and intuitive instruction sheet that guides them step by step through the procedure, customers can choose whether they want to anesthetize locally or have a loved one push the syringe top.

All medication as well as anesthetics comes just in the right dosage so that nothing can go wrong.

The Operatr toolkit for Duck's Foot syndrome

After market validation of the first three common surgeries, Dinnr plans to expand to more complex procedures such as lung transplant and brain surgery. "It sounds a bit challenging at first, but once a loved one has got the hang of understanding the different bits of the brain and has practiced cutting on our realistic rubber model that comes with the order, it'll be easy" says Dr. Bindair Dondat who advises Dinnr on Operatr.

"No more long waiting lists at the NHS. No more paying through your nose for cosmetic surgery! We shift the healthcare power back to the consumer where it belongs", says the proud CEO.
